Introducing Myself

I have owned dogs for over 30 years and enter obedience, breed competitions and have competed in heelwork to music, agility and working trials.  I have become interested in Rally, am an APDT Rally Judge and busy promoting the new sport in conjunction with the A.P.D.T.

All my dogs have passed their Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Gold Award.  Ross, Spice  & Zena gained the award when 10 months old.

One of our dogs, Luna,  won her Second Challenge Certificate at Crufts when she gained Best of Breed in 1999 and soon afterwards became a Belgian Shepherd Champion. In Feb 2003 she gained C.Dex (Companion Dog excellent) a working trial qualification and became the first Tervueren Belgian Shepherd Champion to hold this qualification.

Luna's daughter Spice qualified CDex in December 2005.

Luna's son Ross qualified CDex in March 2006.

We have displayed in schools, play groups, clubs and Pets-Pets-Pets Road Show and helped to promote the Kennel Club awards by demonstrating at Crufts during 1999 and 2000.  At Crufts 2004 and  2005 our team took part in the Kennel Club Safe and Sound demonstration.  My dogs have appeared on television in Vets in Practice at Chester Zoo also with Paul Crone in Look North and Carlton TV News.

As a Crufts feature in 2007 our training centre gave Safe & Sound advice and provided display work for Central T.V. news, BBC1 Breakfast and West Midlands Radio.  Ross also appeared on Shauna Lowny's Top Dog programme on Animal Planet.  I have acted as Team leader for the Kennel Club's Safe and Sound  team at Crufts since 2007.

I am a member of the Institute for Animal Care and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.  I hold a Diploma in Flower Essence Therapy for Animals.

I have attended numerous courses and seminars for breed, obedience training, agility, working trials, canine behaviour and complementary therapies.

Over the last 14 years I have held in-house training and arranged testing and carried out testing for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold).   Additionally I have held  puppy classes at Veterinary Centres.

  • 1998   With Rossendale Borough Council Dog Training we were the Overall Winners.
