Our Companion Dog Show made a total profit of £395.50 included in this is £50 raised by one of our young members, Ellie Minshall with her Tombola.

A big thanks to all judges, stewards, helpers and entrants who made this one of the best shows we have held.

The show was blessed with lovely sunny weather.

We were pleased with the 93 dog entries but somewhat disappointed in the BSD turnout this year (5 in total).
There was a new look to the events in order to cater for Aricia supporters. Fun obedience - Good Citizen Dog Scheme Type replaced the stricter obedience classes making a friendly atmosphere, enjoyed by all.  Two agility classes also raised a new perspective.

Dave East, animal warden from the Rossendale Valley took on the role of chief cook, doing a wonderful job on refreshments.

Many thanks to Thelma & Brian Cook, once again for providing “Goody Bag” for the Belgians.

The show raised £400 after expenses, £200 of which to BSD Rescue/Epilepsy -£200 to The Dog Trust.

Then 4 of our child handlers Emily, Ellie, Heather & Jacob displayed obedience with their dogs, all off lead, including send aways- to mat, post and stool. (Emily's dog sits on top of the stool, she taught this to the dog herself), recalls & retrieves, followed by a short adult version. Carole did the commentary.

Apart from Crufts it was one of the best displays we have done, and we received a big cheer of thanks on completion and invited by Shrewsbury Lions to return next year.

Aricia Dog Training run by Carole & Stewart Thornley have once again been asked to provide the only display team for the Safe & Sound Scheme at Crufts. The team of 40 will display in the Arena on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th March. In addition smaller teams will display in rings in Hall 3 on all 4 days of the show. This includes the Good Citizen Dog Scheme ring & for the first time the YKC ring.

We are pleased that from the total of 11 dogs in the team 2 Belgian Shepherds are represented. Stewart will be handling Aricia All Spice CDex (Ross) & Laura Wilcox will be handling Xurits Diezel of Ailort (Diezel).

The scheme aims to teach children and adults the correct approach to dogs and how to react in the event of being afraid. This year sees a revised display, the children are to dress as pirates.
